An Anti-Piracy Video

Stop piracy....

Why Music Piracy is a Current Issue: Kira's Opinion

In a time when there are many tecnological innovations in society, music piracy is a pressing issue in our world that must be addressed. With websites, such a Pirate Bay, consumers have the capability to download music without spending a dime. The government authorites have a hard time accusing Pirate Bay for copyright theft, however, because they themselves do not steal anything; they simply just create an internet space for browsers to trade and download posted files. Coprighted theft violates the rights and hard work of music artists today, as their profits and record sales are their source of income. Some organizations and people, though, do not view music piracy as a theft as much as a simple download. Several European politicians, for example, have started an "I Wouldn't Steal..." campaign, claiming that the download is not an actual violation of artist rights and privacy. Seeming as there are several viewpoints on the topic of music piracy, we decided to look further into the issue by researching the topic. I personally believe, however, that music piracy and copyright theft violate the hard work of artists trying to earn a living as well as damage the economy.

Why Music Pirating? - Jessi's Opinion

Maybe piracy isn't global warming or world hunger, but that isn't to say it has no signifigance. Music piracy has many aspects of moral and legal concerns; you'd be surprised how many people take this issue to heart. In Sweden, an entire political party was established based on one man's idea to establish a web page for pro pirating. Once so many new members swarmed the site, Falkvinge (the founder of the web page) created the Pirate Party. The Pirate Party now has more members than Sweden's Green Party. You see? Piracy isn't all just punk teenagers looking to get free music. Its a universal issue that we at Music Pirating take seriously. I personally believe that the copyright laws of music are merely used for exploitation of the artist; an artist who should be able to share HIS music with whom ever he choses and not be forced to answer to the corrupted companies.
